The Role
We have an opportunity for a Senior Interior Designer to join us in the commercial space, creating practical and pleasing, future focused solutions. The opportunity will focus on the exercise of design skills, technical knowledge and document preparation in the delivery of client projects. As the Senior Interior Designer on a project, you will often work closely with junior designers to guide and mentor their involvement in the project, and their personal development.
Responsibilities will include:
- Project Delivery and Oversight – manage a small team to deliver projects, from project set up and briefing to on time delivery
- Design and Insight – bring to life viable solutions to exceed the brief, incorporating best practice and lateral thinking for original innovative ideas that challenge the status quo, lead presentations and coordinate design team
- Conversion – identify opportunities, prepare for and pitch to clients to win projects
- Teamwork and Leadership – nurture and develop more junior team members, with a strong focus on two-way feedback and collaboration
- Compliance – compliance with all applicable Standards and Codes; as well as maintain quality, accuracy and compliance with Geyer Management Systems
- Safety – has a safety mindset, when it comes to design but also day to day actions
Who We Are Looking For
This role will suit someone highly experience in commercial interior design, who enjoys mentoring juniors and who is committed to continual growth and improvement.
- Degree qualified in Interior Design or similar. We look favourably on candidates who are Green Star Accredited Professionals
- Strong design visualisation skills including sketching, hand drawing as well as fluency in AutoCAD, Revit and Adobe graphics programs
- A strong conceptual designer who can produce compelling sketch plans and articulate design narratives
- Leadership experience
- Exceptional project management skills
- Strong understanding of building codes and quality standards
